🎯 What do a shoe and a sock have in common? Or a brush and paint? “What Connects Them?” is a logical association game in which children look for pairs of objects linked by a shared quality or purpose. Learning to notice connections is one of the most important thinking skills, and here it is developed in the most enjoyable way of all: by playing.
✨ What does this game develop?
- Logical thinking – recognising shared qualities and linking them;
- Vocabulary and explanatory language – the child tells why the objects belong together;
- Attention and concentration – the right pair cannot hide from attentive eyes;
- Memory – playing with the cards face down trains recall.
🎲 How to play at home?
Lay the cards out and let the child join the pairs: what goes with what, and why? The most important word here is “why”: the explanation develops language more than the finding does. Older children can play by memory game rules, or look for a “matching third” – what other objects could we add to this pair?
🧑🏫 Tips for professionals
For speech and language therapists this is a valuable aid for semantic links and associative thinking: matching tasks lead naturally into sentence building, naming the functions of objects and generalising. For special-needs educators and psychologists the cards are useful for assessing and developing flexibility of thought. The sturdy card stock survives intensive daily use in a therapy room.
📦 What is in the set?
- 34 sturdy cardboard cards (9 × 9 cm).
Note: the game instructions may be in Spanish, but the game is simple to follow and the clear pictures let you start playing straight away.
👶 Who is it for?
Recommended from 3 years. Suitable for the home, a nursery group and a speech therapy room. A game that teaches children to see the connections around us – and big understanding grows out of small connections.
