🎯 What does joy sound like? And fear? “The Sounds of Emotions” is a bingo game in which an emotion is first heard and only then recognised in a picture. Children listen to laughter, crying, a sigh or a shout, then look on their card for the face that matches. The simple bingo rule holds their attention, and every covered square starts a conversation about what a person feels.
✨ What does it develop?
- Emotional intelligence – the child learns to tell apart and name the basic emotions;
- Auditory perception – sound is linked to image, listening attention is trained;
- Attention and concentration – you have to listen to the end and find the match quickly;
- Vocabulary and verbal fluency – emotions get named, discussed and retold.
🎲 How to play
Each player takes a card with faces showing emotions. An adult plays a sound from the downloaded file; the children listen and, if that emotion is on their card, cover the square with a counter. The first to cover the whole card wins. Finish with a conversation: when did you feel like that? what helps you when you do?
🧑🏫 Tips for professionals
For speech and language therapists and special educators this is a convenient way to work on auditory perception and emotion vocabulary at the same time. With a non-verbal child or one with delayed speech, start with two clearly different sounds and widen the choice gradually. The cards also suit one-to-one work: play the sound and let the child point.
📦 What is included
- 24 cards (16 × 16 cm);
- 60 plastic counters;
- a downloadable MP3 sound file.
Please note: the game instructions may be in Spanish, but play is simple and the sounds and pictures are clear without translation.
👶 Who is it for?
Recommended from 4 years. Suitable for nurseries, pre-school groups, speech therapy and psychology rooms and for home — anywhere feelings are best discussed through play rather than theory.
